Bonjour tout! Today we did a little trip into the interior of Provence and this is a short blog to cover this one off.

So we were up reasonably early and set off about 9.30 inland. Heading inland this place is a bit wine growing region and it’s vineyards everywhere. Clive tells me this region of Provence, the Var county is a big rose producing region and it’s quite famous for it. We would find out with a glass or 2 later.

Our first stop is a little town called Pierrefeu for a patisserie and a brew. It’s got a good viewpoint but not really much else to see other than it is a very typical Provencal town but it gives you the idea of what life is like here. A bit sleepy it all is round here really.

Next about 20 minutes later we arrive in Collobrières. This place is a lovely little town in the mountains, it is a scenic place surrounded by vineyards in the mountains and has a decent bit to see. Clive and Gail want to have a look round the town and tell me about a castle ruin at the top of the hill so I go to check that out.

Luckily it’s not as steep a hill as the castle back in Hyères. It’s not a castle but the ruins of an old Church, the church of St. Pons, this is a 12th century church that was abandoned and left to ruin at some point in the 19th century and today it’s actually used as a music venue where bands come and do gigs there outdoors and next month there’s actually a bit of a little festival up there. Sounds interesting.

After this I meet back up with Clive and Gail and they treat us to a nice little lunch at this restaurant they like round here. I forget what the name of the dish was but it was a nice chicken dish that is traditional to the region. It was superb 😋.

After this we go back to Hyères and chill for a bit. They have a dinner with the neighbours so I go into town again and have another look round but nothing eventful happened there.

We have another 2 days here which is more of the beach life before hitting the road back to Blighty. The next blog will cover the first leg of that road trip.
